The Waste-to-Energy facility, which is also known as Stanislaus Resource Recovery Facility (SRRF), began operations in 1989 after obtaining the required operating and air permits from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District.

The Waste-to-Energy (WTE) concept makes so much sense for our County since SRRF, not only disposes of at least 243,300 tons of solid waste annually (after recycling efforts of the communities) in a safe and controlled environment, it generates up to 22.5 megawatts of electricity while reducing the need for landfill space by approximately 90% of the volume of waste processed.
